Reflection

We are told in the Gospel that when the time came for Jesus to be taken up to heaven, He resolutely took the road to Jerusalem. As He travelled along, He encountered people who were interested in following Him for each of them there was a precondition: ‘I will follow but first let me say good-bye to people at home’ or ‘I will follow but first let me go and bury my father’. In his response, Jesus makes it clear that we should not put anything before His summons to His kingdom. He calls us to live in a new way, a higher way and the present moment is always the right moment to respond to His invitation. His words challenge us to let go of the things in our lives that we often put in front of our relationship with Him. God calls us to put His kingdom first in our lives. We are to love Him above all.

St Eugene’s recognises the spirit of change inherent in this document, but would wish to reassure pupils, parents & the wider community that it will be exploring robust alternatives to those offered at initial stage of the pre-consultation document. Confidence in St Eugene’s is at a all-time high & it is important to stress that no decision has been taken to close the school. We are currently exploring new options for the delivery of education in the area & look forward to providing the very best options for the pupils & community.

Do not be afraid of Christ!
He takes nothing away and He gives you everything.
When we give ourselves to Him, we receive a hundredfold in return:

Pope Benedict XV1

Love Yourself
We need to love ourselves. Accept yourself - love yourself as you are, not as you might have been or might be. Be kind to yourself and you will be kind to others: let others be kind to you and you’ll be kind to yourself. Allow others be compassionate to you and you will look on yourself with love - and that’s how God looks on you.
