14th Sunday of the Year

First Reading Ezekiel 2: 2-5
Ezekiel’s mission is to people who have turned against God. They do not want to listen to what he says, but he reminds them that his words are the words of the Lord.

Second Reading
2 Corinthians 12: 7-10

I shall be very happy to make my weaknesses my special boast so that the power of Christ may stay over me.

Gospel Mark 6: 1-6
Jesus is amazed at the lack of faith in those who would not accept him.

PRIESTS OF THE PARISH

Fr Duffy P.P.. 047-51048
Fr Gorman C.C. 048 67751231
Fr Kearns C.C. 047 51064

We cannot speak of this? Who has not stood
weighing in the hand the envelope
in the draughty hall? Or down the long slope
of the snowfield leaned into the turn
past all recall? Who, in the quick sharp burn
of the fuse has not felt it, moments before
the rocket lifts? Or at a silent door
reached out to knock for news that must be good.

that must, O Lord, please let it be good, we pray.
It’s nothing rare. In each of us the heart
was made in love to beat day after day
expectantly on, on—and never to depart
from trusting all is well, knowing the cold grey
of dawn is gifted light, is another start.
