Feast of the Epiphany

PRIESTS OF THE PARISH
Larry Duffy P.P. 047-51048
John Kearns C.C. 047-51064
Martin O’Reilly 048 67751231
Priest on duty this week: Fr Kearns

Reflection

‘The Epiphany is the manifestation of Jesus as the Messiah of Israel. Son of God and Saviour of the world. This great feast celebrates the adoration of Jesus by the wise men (magi) from the East, together with his baptism in the Jordan and the wedding feast at Cana in Galilee. In the magi, representatives of the neighbouring pagan religions, the Gospel sees the first-fruits of the nations, who welcome the good news of salvation through the Incarnation.’
(Catechism of the Catholic Church, 528).

A Big “Thank you”
Thanks from the priests of the parish to the many parishioners who sent Christmas cards or gave gifts to us at Christmas. Your support and kindness is very much appreciated. We wish you a happy and blessed New Year.

The Family that prays together
Stays together.

New Beginnings

Each chapter that is ending
Leads us to a new beginning
The past that we are leaving
Means a future we are winning

Each change that fills the present
Sets the stage for our tomorrow
And how we meet each challenge
Helps determine joy or sorrow.

In every new beginning
Spirit plays a vital part.
We must approach tomorrow
With a strong and steady heart.

So as we turn the corner
Let’s all apprehension shed
And fill our hearts with confidence
As we proceed ahead.

MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU AS THIS NEW YEAR UNFOLDS.
MAY HE RENEW WITHIN YOU HIS HOLY SPIRIT.
MAY HE GROW GREATER WITHIN YOU AND BLESS ALL YOU ATTEMPT AND ACHIEVE
AND MAY THE LOVE OF GOD BE REFLECTED IN ALL YOUR DEALINGS WITH OTHERS.

Rejoice. How can I ?
It was a happy family.
But drink caused disaster.
First it was the odd day.
Then it was most weekends.
Soon it was most days.
Money ran short.
Rows increased. Inevitably.
Nobody could live with it.
She begged him to seek help
He refused.
He was destroying all……..
His health, job and family

Why didn't he stop?
Why didn't he talk to someone,
Anyone. Why? Why?
They could have been so different,
Even happy.

TOO MUCH DRINK

Seek Help….Now
So many feel pain and hurt
So many feel alone, helpless.
Who can I turn to? Who cares?

Many people care. Most in fact. Really.
People used to go to the priest to talk.
The priests here will welcome you.
If you need a listening ear…
If you need a prayer…
Or a word of encouragement….come

You can talk to the priests in total confidence or to the Samaritans or Cura, or Vincent de Paul

Whether you are young or old, don't
Carry a worry or burden alone.
A problem shared is a problem halved.
