Sixth
Sunday in Ordinary Time

Lent—a
time to live simply
Lent, can be a
time to make more space each day for reflection and
prayer. That may well mean less television, less chatter.
During Lent can we be less preoccupied with our own
moods and emotional needs, letting them simply be and
giving our attention to others?. During Lent can we
cut back on what we consume, relying more on each other
for comfort and relaxation? .
Making the most
of Lent , involves three steps:
*See
the invitation of God in every moment
*
Respond generously to that invitation, turning away
again and again from a
focus on ourselves
*
Fashion a simpler life style that leaves us free for
the Lord, free from our own compulsive needs and free
for others in their needs
Temperance

Some children preparing for Confirmation will be taking
a pledge at some of the Masses today. Others who want
to give up alcohol for lent are also
welcome to take this pledge

Commitment
is what transforms a promise into reality. It is the
words that speak boldly of your intentions, and the
actions which speak louder than the words. It is making
the time when there is none. Coming through time after
time, year after year after year. Commitment is the
stuff character is made of, the power to change the
face of things. It is the daily triumph of integrity
over scepticism.
(Abraham Lincoln)
One
friend, one person who is truly understanding, who takes
the trouble to listen to us as we consider a problem
can change our whole outlook on the world.
