25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

First Reading Wisdom 2: 12. 17-20
The godless plot to do away with the just one, because his blameless life is a reproach to them.

Second Reading James 3: 16 – 4: 3
Jealousy, ambition and self-seeking lead to disharmony and fighting. Gentleness, reasonableness and mercy lead to peace.

Gospel Mark 9: 30-37
Jesus tells his apostles he will suffer bitter humiliation and death, and says true greatness shows itself in service towards the weaker members of the community.

THERE'S A CANDLE BRIGHT

For Every Trouble
There's a Candle Bright
Lighting Up
The darkest Night.

For Your Every doubt
or fear
There's a Star shining
Near.

For the surcease
of every sorrow
You May hold,
I know the Sweetest
Story Ever told.

It tells of how
Jesus came...
And died on Calvary,
So that of our
Sins and sorrows
He could Set us
Free!

For every Trouble
There's a Candle
Lighting up
the darkest Night

Solus Nua - For those who have lost their Spouse through death or separation: How do we start picking up the pieces, re-building our lives, after we have sustained a grievous loss? We wont be able to undertake major new ventures for a while, but a single step will signify to our inner self that our investment is in life, not in endless grief. At Solus Nua you will find understanding, support, sensitivity, and listening skills from our team of facilitators. The weekly meetings take place in Cavan over a two month period, commencing on Sept 23rd. For more details contact Geraldine @ 087 2675859 or Cavan Family Resource Centre on 049 43 71363, email cavanfamil@oceanfree.net.
