The Seven Wonders of the World

according to Nicholas

Nicholas was a simple soul and always last in every project. Any task that the children were asked to do, was always difficult for Nicholas. But although he took a long time, he always got there in the end. And because he always took every task to heart, it usually took longer than anyone else.

So when one day the teacher asked the class to write down the Seven Wonders of the World, it was no surprise that everyone in the class was finished long before Nicholas. The whole class was holding hands in the air to give the teacher their list only Nicholas it seemed was still thinking hard to write something meaningful down.

With few exceptions, all the children’s answers on things like the Pyramids and the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal and so on; actually, the teacher was amazed to see the articulate way most of them explained why they chose this or that and presented their list in order of preference. The teacher read them out one by one.

Finally, it was Nicholas’ list to be read by the teacher. The teacher read it aloud and the whole class sat in deep silence long after the last words were uttered; Why? Because his list read like this:

The Seven Wonders of the World are from God:

- to live
- to dream
- to love
- to laugh
- to feel
- to see
- to hear
