Second Sunday of Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday

Risen Lord Jesus,
As Mary Magdalene met you in the
garden
on the morning of your resurrection, so may
we meet you today and every day.
Speak to us as you spoke to her,
reveal yourself as the living Lord,
renew our hope and kindle our joy.
Send us to share the Good news with
others.
Parish
Forum
Fifty four people
attended the Parish Forum on March 10th. Many aspects
of Clones Parish evoked pride & satisfaction ie
choirs, work of teachers & priests, splendour of
church buildings, bingo support, generous people. Also
noted were recent town developments. . Areas where improvement
would be appreciated included church sound systems,
Connons Church, lighting of church steps, care of &
ministry to youth, newly arrived parishioners and lapsed
church attender’s were considered a priority.
God alone knows
the future, however the diocese must read the signs
of the times & plan accordingly. The immediate future
will see fewer priests, a great emphasis on lay involvement,
& a sharing of resources among parishes. The meeting
heard of a proposed diocesan suggestion to build a pastoral
centre for Clones & surrounding parishes, &
a priests house on the site of the old school &
to sell the existing parish priests house. Two significant
items of information were disclosed
(1) The plan of the Bishop to meet a group
of parishioners from each parish to exchange information
& practical ideas regarding the future of each parish.
(2) It is intended to establish a Parish Pastoral
Council for Clones in 2008/9.
Comments
of Fr Duffy re Forum:
I thank all who attended the Forum. Your presence
is a sign of your interest & commitment to the parish.
I saw the Forum as a listening exercise for me to get
a greater insight into Clones parish. While the meeting
was well attended the almost total absence of what I
describe as the “under 40’s” is a
concern. I meet this age group as they request marriage,
baptism, first communion, & confirmation for their
children & I see that church & faith is important
to them. The church & parish needs your ideas, energy
& involvement. This is my personal invitation for
you to step forward & take up the challenge.

Divine
Mercy Sunday - 3 O’Clock Prayer (The Hour of Great
Mercy)
You expired Jesus but the source of life gushed forth
for souls & an ocean of mercy opened up for the
whole world.
O fount of Life, unfathomable divine Mercy, envelop
the whole world & empty yourself out upon us.
O Blood & Water which gushed forth from the Heart
of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in you.
