Sunday 31st January

Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Thoughts on Haiti’s Children

Weight we can’t fathom continually borne,
By small Haitian children, so forlorn.
Who look to the world for what it can do,
If you look real close, they’re looking at you.

They die every day, in this “paradise,”
We’ve known that for years, and never looked twice.
Starvation, AIDS, neglect, and earthquake,
Destroying young lives already at stake.

We can’t stop the ground from it’s trembling,
Or hurricane winds disassembling;
But a child can be, someone we see,
Who needs our help now, to set his soul free.
